Hi,

Unfortunately the Java client was written for 1.7 and I don't think it
has been updated to handle newer features such
as the datastore.  You might try Tim Lebo's fork at
https://github.com/timrdf/CKANClient-J though, I haven't checked
but I know it is further on than the original.
