Subject: updating ckan / Victoria DoJ progress
Hi Gavin
We've just released a proof of concept ckan to Victoria Department of
Justice for their appraisal and I'll be adding some simple extensions to
demonstrate how we can customise the metadata fields (thanks for the tip of
checking out the example_idatasetform extension - I was able to learn quite
a bit from the code) and probably make a reports page that's similar to the
stats extension.
I have a question about some of the newer preview extensions. I used the
package install method to install ckan on the server I deployed for the
proof of concept site. Could you tell me what the preferred (safest) method
is for updating in order to take advantage of these extensions? Perhaps it
would be okay to only download the extensions I want from git and install?
Looks like I'll head over to Melbourne sometime soon - probably next week -
to meet with the client. If there's any new learning materials that you know
of that have been released, could you point me to them?
Cheers
George
