A call to journalists on the list who are driven by data,

*Interested in EU spending data? Want to learn more about the tools and
techniques available producing stories about spending?*

The European Journalism Centre have teamed up with the OKF to hold a
workshop on EU spending data in the Netherlands.

*Basic details:*

*Description*
In this workshop participants will learn from data journalist, *Caelainn
Barr*, who worked as part of the *Bureau of Investigative Journalism
(BIJ)*structural funds investigation team and spending data experts,
how to get
started with data-driven reporting on EU spending. Experts *Chris Taggart*,
co-founder of OpenCorporates <http://opencorporates.com/> & founder of
OpenlyLocal.com & the OKF's *Friedrich Lindenberg*, who contributes to
OpenSpending <http://openspending.org> and
OffenerHaushalt<http://bund.offenerhaushalt.de/>will also be on hand
to offer tutorials in the tools and techniques
available to data journalists.

8-9 September 2011

*Location*
Academiegebouw, Domplein 29, Utrecht, The Netherlands

*Capacity*
Max. 35 participants. The workshop is aimed at aspiring data journalists,
journalists, open data specialists, developers and others who have an
interest in EU spending. There is no participation fee but the attendees are
expected to arrange and cover their own transportation and accommodation.
