Hello everyone :-)
I just wanted to quickly let you know that some new events and training
opportunities have been added to the DataDrivenJournalism.net events
calendar. Some of the new activities that have been included are:
1. *Grants for Innovation in Development Reporting*. In an effort to
advance journalistic coverage of issues related to global development and
the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals, you are encouraged to
submit your ideas about how to improve development reporting by *March 25th*.
The average grant given will be about EUR 20,000.
2. *Call for Applications: Data Journalism Training for Environmental
Journalists*. The European Youth Press is looking for 24 young
environmental journalists to take part in training sessions in São Paulo
(Brazil) and Lagos (Nigeria) on using digital tools to map environmental
issues. The project "Flag it! - Using digital tools to map environmental
issues" aims at equipping young reporters from all over the world with
innovative reporting tools in order to raise awareness of global
environmental challenges. The closing date for applications for São Paulo
and Lagos is *Friday, 15 March 2013 (23:59 CET)*.
3. *Google Summer of Code 2013 Announced*. Google Summer of Code is a
global program that offers student developers stipends to write code for
various open source software projects. Mentoring organisations are invited
to submit project proposals between *18 and 29 March*. Students are invited
to apply between *22 April and 3 May*.
You can find out more information about these events and others

Be sure to keep checking back periodically as the events calendar is
updated often.
Thanks!
