[ECODP-dev] [eu-odp-comms] cleaning of missing translation - some questions

Dear Darwin,

Thank you for the answer. Indeed it works but it's quite cumbersome to approve them one by one for all the languages so my questions are following:

-       Is it possible to approve all entries as bulk (for new languages all of them are coming from us)?

-       What's the consequence of leaving the entries as unreviewed – will they be exported to ckan or not?

Would it be feasible for you to show us briefly during tomorrow's telco how to operate the systems and what are the main rules?

Hi Agnieszka,

If you login with the user "odptranslator" you should have permission to mark the translations as reviewed. You'll need to do this from the translation screen for each language. (See attached screenshot).

I've also changed the permissions on the Google doc above (with the non transifex terms in) so you can access it without logging in.

I have created a spreadsheet where you can enter the terms for these vocabularies in each language at the link below. Once these terms have been entered in the spreadsheet we can import them into CKAN.

To avoid this email becoming really long I have added some more comments on what needs to be done to translate these terms on the ticket.

So the questions are:

•         What's the meaning of the status "non-relus"? Sometimes it's implemented, sometimes not? Or in case of JIRA 226 is an error (accidental omission) or it has some explanation linked to the status of this translation in Transifex?
Transifex has the option of creating users who are Reviewers for a project and who can proofread and approve the translations provided by other users in the project. Those labels refer to how many terms have been reviewed. You can see more on this here

•         How can we know which terms are approved and implemented in ckan and which not? How can we recognize which terms are coming from our translation suggestion?
Terms which are part of the CKAN interface use the translations from Transifex. Content and controlled vocabularies are translated separately (see comments above and on 226).

2.    Missing translation in 17 other lv – for this we will wait for the list from you as we agreed.

I just wanted to follow up from our discussion on this in the project call yesterday. As discussed we will review the translation files and remove as many terms as possible to reduce the amount of translation work needed.

We will be able to complete this by the end of next week at the latest and will let you know when the shortened files are available on Transifex.

The translation files are simply text files with the key values in. Therefore if the translation office would prefer not to use Transifex they could simply edit the files using a text editor such as notepad++ (It does need to be a text editor rather than MS word though). Obviously using Transifex does have has the advantage of giving editors a better interface for entering the translations and viewing which terms still need to be translated.

Please just let me know if you have any questions or would like to discuss at all.
