[ECODP-dev] Jira-300 – unable to edit any datasets

Hi Agnieszka,

A quick update on this. We were waiting for 10F to set-up a test server
with a replica of release 09.00 as it is in production so we could
investigate. This server became available on Wednesday afternoon and we
provided feedback to 10F on Thursday. Unfortunately there was an issue with
the OKF's email server which meant 10F didn't receive our message until
Sunday.

In short there were two issues with the configuration of the server which
were causing it to appear as if the edits that a user was making to a
dataset weren't being saved to the DB.

- the site_url in the CKAN config was set to the internal IP address, which
breaks some redirects (e.g. redirect on saving an edit).
- caching was enabled in NGINX, and logged-in pages were being cached
incorrectly

Note that caching is enabled for non-logged in users which is why changes
aren't visible to non-logged in users immediately. Caching configuration is
managed by 10F so they are best placed to advise if there are any queries
on this.

We are also working on a fix for 291 but need the test server to be updated
with a copy of the live DB so we have realistic tracking data to test our
patch against. Bert do you have an update on this please as we have been
waiting on this since Tuesday?
