Hi all,
its about a year ago that we started this working group on open data in the EU. Together with the working group we started the monthly conference call. The idea was to establish a second channel for people to exchange beyond the mailing list. The monthly calls started with a small number of participants and I remember them to be very interesting and productive. Really a good way to get an update whats happening on the field of open data in different EU countries. The number of participants grew constantly up to s size where it was no longer possible to do it via Skype. We had one or two calls with a huge number of people via landline conference call.
Then suddenly during summer 2010 less and less people showed up for the call. In last month calls there where only two or tree people. So I would like to discuss with you how to go ahead from here. Do we want to keep the monthly call on a regular basis or shall we cancel it for now?
I think an other related issue is the fact that with the open government data working group* we now have two WGs with similar topics. Most people are on both mailing lists anyway. I think it might still make sense to keep both WGs since this one is focussed on europe and might be used by people to extend cooperation and exchange between open data projects in EU countries.
What do people think about this? And about the monthly calls?
Anyhow - wile this is not decided jet I suggest we keep the next regular monthly meeting as scheduled for Tuesday, 14th December:
* When: Tuesday, December 14th at 1700 GMT, 6pm CET
* strict limit to one hour
* Where: Skype or landline Telco
* Backchannel: #okfn IRC channel on irc.oftc.net
* you can connect via Mibbit http://ur1.ca/4fh
* Chair: Daniel Dietrich (Skype: ddie22)
To participate, please add your name to the list here:

We decided to keep the call over Skype if there is max. 8 participants, if more people sign names on the list we do it with the a landline Tele-Conference. Check the details the above mentioned pad. You can also add topics if you have something you would like to talk about in the call.
Kind regards
Daniel
