We have had a request for a letter of support from a project to
digitise public domain comic books. Shall I go ahead and draft
something? Is there any reason why we shouldn't do this?

Jonathan

Subject: Request for letter of support or commitment for acquisitions

Dear Board Members

Please allow me to introduce myself, I am Dr. Lawrence Guy II and I am
requesting a letter of support from you and/or your organization for
the acquisition viability of the Words and Pictures Museum of
Northampton, Massachusetts founded by Mr. Kevin Eastman and currently
being considered for dissolution.

This acquisition is designed as the foundation for the creation of a
forum exclusively for in-depth research of sequential art in the
public domain as well as digital preservation /creation of publicly
accessible repository. It will require restructuring of the
organization’s infrastructure that was constructed over 18 years ago
to provide a forum for sequential art preservation.

A proposal has been submitted to Kevin Eastman (Founder) and Fiona
Russell (Director). It currently contains an operating plan with
detailed organizational and research programs, fundraising projects
that focuses on this unrepresented niche within both the academic and
consumer arena. Based upon approval, the proposed acquisition transfer
will be completed over the succeeding months cumulating in its
completion between the months of January and April of 2010.

The support of this acquisition will go a long way towards insuring
the continued existence of the Words & Pictures Museum, the
preservation and accessibility of public domain information and
research, and the continued legitimizing of the sequential art field.
I am hopeful you and your organization realize the importance of this
project not only for the field of study, but for the benefit of all,
and can assist our effort through a letter of support addressed to the
founder and the board of directors for Words & Pictures Museum. If you
are able to support this request, please send your letters of support
to me on official letterhead via email attachment or regular postal
mail. For your review, I have attached a snapshot of proposed
milestones for our
3-Year Implementation Plan.

Your office has been instrumental in raising the level of awareness
for the research and preservation of public domain studies and/or
sequential art. I ask that you do what is possible at every level to
support this appropriation request and any other effort that will move
this project along and make it a reality.

Support Requests Deadline: Support Request Letters must be received
(either by mail or email) no later than 9 PM on August 28, 2009.
Please submit your letter to Dr. Lawrence Guy II, 15501 Bruce B. Downs
Blvd, Suite 3009, Tampa, FL 33647 or by email to
lawrenceguyii at hotmail.com

Thank you for your support of this project and for considering these comments.

Best regards,

Dr. Lawrence Guy II
