Dear Friend of the Open Knowledge Foundation,
We have never been so busy.
Over the past 18 months we’ve been working with hacks and
hackers<http://okfn.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=a3f1f88a62b23f51641693977&id=9983367bdd&e=5c9fe00bfb>,
citizens and civil
servants<http://okfn.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=a3f1f88a62b23f51641693977&id=b923efdebf&e=5c9fe00bfb>,
students and scientists<http://okfn.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=a3f1f88a62b23f51641693977&id=c6f0119f58&e=5c9fe00bfb>to
*open up knowledge* which should be available for everyone. We want to
enable as many people as possible to use this knowledge to *improve the
world*.

Over 1000 people turned out for OKFestival
<http://okfn.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=a3f1f88a62b23f51641693977&id=cac581e155&e=5c9fe00bfb>
More than 70 people contributed to The Data Journalism Handbook
To give just a few highlights:
We had our *biggest annual event to date*, with over 1000 people in
Helsinki for talks, workshops and hackathons at OKFestival
2012<http://okfn.us2.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=a3f1f88a62b23f51641693977&id=a9138e4429&e=5c9fe00bfb>
.
We have worked with citizens and CSOs to load *spending data from over 40
countries* into
OpenSpending<http://okfn.us2.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=a3f1f88a62b23f51641693977&id=1e0b1674dc&e=5c9fe00bfb>
.
We have established the Panton
Fellowships<http://okfn.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=a3f1f88a62b23f51641693977&id=d47be54ad5&e=5c9fe00bfb>for
early career stage scientists to
*promote open access policies and practises* in their domain.
We are working to *open up the world’s culture* with
OpenGLAM<http://okfn.us2.list-manage2.com/track/click?u=a3f1f88a62b23f51641693977&id=d726baaf1c&e=5c9fe00bfb>-
and promoting the idea of the cultural commons to a broader public
with The
Public Domain Review<http://okfn.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=a3f1f88a62b23f51641693977&id=a032dbb654&e=5c9fe00bfb>
.
We believe that the best way to have a lasting impact on the way that
public knowledge is shared and used is to *build stronger communities* of
people who will continue to push for change.
*We need your support to make this happen*. We’d like you to consider
becoming an Open Knowledge Foundation Supporter giving at least $10 or €10
month to support our growing network:

This will help us to run our servers, run events, establish new local
groups and working groups, and to respond to new challenges like Hans
Rosling’s recent plea for greater transparency around CO2
data<http://okfn.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=a3f1f88a62b23f51641693977&id=28ae2f29d5&e=5c9fe00bfb>

We hope you consider supporting our activities at this crucial time.
