[foundation-board] Three year budget / Omidyar proposal

Dear Members of the Board,

as you are aware, I am currently discussing a renewal of our unrestricted
grant with Martin and Andrew from the Omidyar Network. This is a *very*
significant part of the overall funding strategy, given that it would be
the largest part of unrestricted funds we are seeking. In addition, if we
receive this funding, it will end after three years, with no potential
renewal (which is standard for Omidyar, they usually fund "only" up to 8
years).

While the Board will need to sign of on the individual annual budgets (for
2017, this will happen during Q4, I would think), Omidyar (and other
funders, of course) require us to have a mid-term outlook at our
financials.

I am not sure if you have had similar outlooks prior to me joining the
organisation; in this spreadsheet
<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1L5SpIoWK_Pi43CJHAOd4qPKFfZtDiDeyHrYhAkqvH_E/edit#gid=0>,
you will find an overview of planned budget development from 2017 to 2019,
with additional breakdowns and details here
<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1S-f1EmKR5ts0sM_3RHK1fVI02WfoD6DuhoK3tDKXdCk/edit#gid=888382445>.
I have developed three different scenarios, with the "Medium Scenario" the
most likely to happen.

Karin and I thought it might be a good idea if we do not wait until our
regular next Board meeting to discuss this, but rather have an additional
meeting within the next couple of weeks. I (together with Mark, of course)
would then provide you with background and details and I would ask for your
approval.
