Hi Iain,
I think it would very much make sense to get feedback from Javier and the
ORG about this. I was especially interested in the research they are going
to conduct to find out where scanners are collecting dust etc. and how they
can be used.
I would love to set up a small project with for example a small institution
where we help with digitisation, advise on rights and metadata and finally
help them set up a way to bring their content to the audience. For example
a local archive which build a timeline with events in the region through
time. If successful, this could then also work as a great case study for
other institutions.
I've been talking with Michael Bauer (OKFN, dev for SchoolofData) about
this and he really likes to help if he can. He also suggested approaching
the Nietzsche Archive for a digitisation project, which I think would be
fantastic, also with relation to DM2E.
If you want I can take an action point in emailing Javier about this and
also introducing you.
Let me know your thoughts!
Joris
