[iRail] OKFN - a new organisation for open data enthusiasts

Dear iRail friends,

Since some iRail projects are really not about public transport any
longer (BeLaws, The DataTank...), I would really love to found a new
organisation which focuses on open data/knowledge in general. For iRail,
this might have a very positive effect. The iRail community should only
be about public transport (nomen est omen) and there is still a really
big pile of work concerning public transport ahead of us.

The Open Knowledge Foundation (http://okfn.org) is a European
organisation which focuses on open content/open data. They have been
active for quite some time to do awesome projects concerning open data.
If the effort of creating a European organisation with the same vision
as ours has already been done, we should join them, not become this
other organisation which is kind of related. For more information check
http://okfn.org/about/faq/.

We also need an organisation in Belgium which helps (local) governments,
organisations, companies... to implement a decent open data policy. Only
as one organisation we can maintain an active community. When we
Belgians at ogdcamp (http://ogdcamp.org) were asked to create a Belgian
chapter, we felt that all pieces were finally coming together.

We have set-up a wiki-page on the official OKFN website. Feel free to
extend or alter it: http://wiki.okfn.org/Chapter/Belgium

If you're interested in having a (key-)role in this new organisation,
register on the mailinglist and introduce yourself!

The first general assembly of this new organisation will be on the 22th
of November, 19:00 here (??). Don't forget to add your name to the wikipage!
