Simple answer here is:

don't use kforge.net use knowledgeforge.net

Cookies (+svn) probably are not happy with redirect/different domains.

knowledgeforge.net is correct domain and kforge.net was just put up
for convenience (though there has been discussion about moving to the
shorter domain -- but this certainly won't happen for a while ...)

As you say to avoid in future best thing is to use a redirect ...
