how does that make sense?  why do you want to force anyone to disclose his
membership? the people who are actively posting on the list, are known by all,
the ones, who are lurking, will be lurking anyway, if they do not want their
membership disclosed they can still lurk on the web mailing list archive. if i
want to post despite such a policy, i'll register a new emailaddress. but all
this hassle makes this list much less attractive for privcacy conscious people
and as such this introduces a kind of contra-selection of this list
membership, and thus biases the discussions on this list. actually we should
reverse this, and make it hard for non-privacy-conscious people to join ;)
