Hi all,
At #ogdcamp I have a slot on open data (OGD as instrument for (local)
government) 16:30-18:30, that you are all welcome to join with your local
data stories.
What I would like to do in the session is start out with a short intro on
how I think/experience how open data can be a policy instrument for local
gov (general intro), and like you show what I do with my local gov in my
hometown (part of a series of cities, yours and mine). So, have you show the
various city initiatives you're part of, and how open data plays a role
there.
For the more practical side of things I would like to do an excercize with
those present on finding a) some sort of issue in their hometown that b)
they can come up with a few datasets that would be useful to start
addressing that issue and c) find an approach to involve local gov in
actually doing that.
So that we all end with a list of various local issues, and what people
think is the relevant data around those issues, which also looks at making
the case towards local gov that it's valuable to themselves.
that is something that we can all take home and use.
how does that sound? If you want to present something of what is going on in
your city, that would be great. But keep it short (only a few slides, and a
few minutes each.) I will do the same, so that we can use at least half of
the 2 hours we have actually doing things and conversing with eachother, and
not get bored to death by wall to wall powerpoint/key-note.
best, looking forward to seeing you tomorrow,
Ton
