Jumping back in here – re the 'combining from multiple sources' I think
your'e looking for more of a directory (in the 'simple' instance – see
below, probably possible with federation) or (better) you're looking at
building a service bus to connect the data sources and spit out a
combination – which I don't *think* is something CKAN can really
do...certainly doable with Python / Node / Ruby or something like that, but
I imagine would have to be custom-purposed. Federation would let you bring
in datasets from the others and have one 'site' but from what I understand
(brief read of docs...) it would just "copy" the source onto the instance,
rather than allow you to transform and spit back out as another feed – more
than happy to be proven wrong here though.

Love the idea of themed stuff – very much agree with the idea of
tagging/categorising to reduce the "look at x for y, then a for b, then j
for k" model. Would really reduce barrier to entry, particularly for those
who aren't all over this space, e.g. hackathon teams from outside the
opendata area.
