Calling Victorian public transport data enthusiasts!

PTV are releasing some extensions to their API following the release of the
GTFS data and there will be a series of events to encourage use of the new
data to improve the public transport experience.

It's a little different from the traditional hackathon, as we kick off
with an Ideas Sprint on the afternoon of Thursday May 28th followed by a
reception that evening. The ideas sprint is designed to generate creative
ways in which data could be applied to solve problems that will feed into a
tech jam to run over the weekend of the 30th to 31st.
All the events are now open for registration here:

After the tech jam, there will be a series of cash prizes awarded with
opportunities to enter an incubator phase to develop whatever was produced
over the weekend. There will be three grand prizes as follows:

   -

Grand Prize 1: (Incubator participants only) $5,000

Awarded to one team who has completed the Incubator program on the basis
of Best improvement to user experience.

   -

   Grand Prize 2: $3,000

Awarded to one team on the basis of Best improvement to user experience
using the new PTV Timetable API dataset.

   -

   Grand Prize 3: $3,000

Awarded to one team on the basis of Best improvement to user experience
   using any PTV API dataset.

If you already have a great public transport app in development, you're
free to bring it along - entries don't have to be developed from scratch
over the weekend.

Looking forward to finally having a decent public transport app for
Melbourne!
