Hi all,

Ever since 2010 iRail has been trying to get the NMBS/SNCB to open up
their data. Unsuccessfully: changing the course of that boat even a
little bit seems like a million ? endeavour. Opening their data is
ridiculously difficult: it needs to go through their board of directors,
who always have more urgent things to deal with.

Today, Alexander De Croo announced that he's going to oblige NMBS/SNCB
to open up their data using the new implementation of the PSI directive,
before summer. This means we're going to follow the European directive
(which has to be ready before summer or a European fine follows), but it
also means that we go further than what Europe tells us to do. It's
great new, both on an Open Data level in Belgium, as for the specific
case of NMBS/SNCB.

Kind regards,

Pieter
