We are delighted to share that this year's OGP Africa regional meeting
will be hosted in Cape Town, South Africa from 4 - 6 May, 2016. Please
find below information related to the meeting and instructions on how to
register and submit session proposals for the event.

Open Government Partnership

Africa Regional Meeting

May 4-6, 2016

Cape Town, South Africa


The government of South Africa is pleased to announce that the 2016 Open
Government Partnership Africa Regional Meetingwill be held in Cape Town,
South Africa from  May 5 - 6, 2016 and precededby a Civil Society Day,
which will take place on May 4, 2016.


The Open Government Partnership currently includes ten participating
African countries that have committed to making open government reforms
in close coordination with civil society. The Regional Meeting will
serve as a space for participants from these, and other African
countries considering future participation in the OGP, to highlight good
practices and successful initiatives, discuss challenges being faced,
establish support and build on regional peer exchange mechanisms.


The theme of this year's meeting is "Open Government for Sustainable
Development in Africa". All open government reform champions in the
region are welcome to attend the event*,* including: official delegates
from African countries currently participating or considering future
participation in OGP, public servants from all levels of government,
representatives of civil society and non-governmental organizations,
representatives of international, regional and multilateral agencies,
the business sector, and the academic community.

note that registration will close on 31 March 2016.


The broader OGP community is welcome to shape the agenda for both
events. Organizers have opened a call for proposals for sessions at the
meeting. Please submit your ideas for sessions at the meeting on this
page

23 March, 2016.


Participants will be responsible for their own transportation and
accommodation costs. However, the Open Government Partnership may be
able to help identify financial assistance for those in need of it.
