besteira: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-1

quem diria.

Bjs,

A.S.

interna. Quando referirem-se a Open Knowledge Foundation Brasil, agora
vamos começar a tirar a palavra "Foundation". Se notarem, já fizemos
isso faz certo tempo no site. Na realidade, eu quase registrei sem o
Foundation.

Então somos a OKB - Rede pelo Conhecimento Livre. :)

Estou insistindo para a Laura me passar o cartão faz tempo.

Quem for querer usar um cartão nosso, depois me avise para eu já ir
planejando de onde tirar recursos para isso. Talvez verba dos
associados?

Abraços,

Tom

Hello,

In brief:

  *

We’re improving things to help open knowledge reach more people!

  *

Name change: from ‘Open Knowledge Foundation’ to ‘Open Knowledge’

  *

Logo change: for Open Knowledge Central, and for you when you want it

  *

Words change: we have a new way of talking about ourselves, to make
sure new people to Open can understand what we’re doing and why

  *

New Central website: capturing all of this

  *

Rebooted wiki: to help provide better support

As some of you know, the Open Knowledge Foundation has been working hard
over recent months to improve how we communicate the message of open
knowledge. We'd like to share with you all where we are up to, and what
is happening next.

Communication includes lots of things - the words we use, our brand
(including our name and logo), and how we structure our website. We've
been reviewing all of these.

We want to make sure we have a clear, exciting and engaging presentation
of open knowledge for new audiences, because it is important that others
can discover the power of open, to get more data opened up and make it
used and useful. This includes understandable explanations of what open
knowledge isand why it matters, of who we are, and of what we do. It
also means having fresh graphics which reinforce what we say (this is
especially important because we know from feedback over recent years
that our website can look intimidating, academic or technical, and this
can put off people who otherwise would get involved). These changes are
to help all of us, who are already convinced by and committed to open
knowledge, to talk to new people easily about why open is so important.
We want more people to get involved and join us- to train, run events,
write code, advocate, campaign, wrangle data, start businesses, open
data, use data, and to support open knowledge in all kinds of ways!

We've also wanted to solve problems and avoid confusion, to make things
better for Local Groups and Working Groups. For instance, we know the
term "Foundation" in our name has different meanings in different
countries, some of which don't apply to us! We want Local Groups to be
able to personalise/localise the new logo to create something that is
recognisable as the ‘new look’ we share but also special to them. We
also want to give everyone easy-to-use and exciting designs for
stickers, T-shirts, website graphics and more, which can easily be
translated, showing how we are all part of open knowledge and which
convince others to get involved.

We started this process in late 2013. Many of you may remember the
community survey we ran, which gathered a lot of information about what
you think open knowledge is, what the Open Knowledge Foundation does,
why you think openness matters, and so on. The survey was a very
important inputinto the process of refreshing our brand and how we
communicate, as well as helping us to plan community support better:
many thanks to everyone who took part and contributed to the results now
shared here.

Some of you have spoken with the team working on our brand too, as they
interviewed several Local and Working Group leaders and members of the
Advisory Council. (We’ve also involved the Central team and our Board of
Directors in the process). Many of you have been working with Neal and
others at Central who have been developing our communications and the
website. Others have talked with Rufus and Laura about your plans and
challenges. All of this has helped shape our understanding of what we
all think open knowledge and the Open Knowledge Foundation is, and
therefore how we explain these things to others.

We’re now getting ready to launch our new website, which will be a lot
clearer about who we are and what we do, and how to get involved (the
website should be ready on April 14th). It will also be the first place
people will see our new brand. We’re not going to do a big launch of the
new brand- we’ll be rolling it out gradually as we update websites,
business cards and so on. We’ll make sure you have all the tools you
need to use itjust as soon as they are available. There is no deadline
to updateyour websites or anything else - but we hope you’ll find the
new communication materials both easier to use and much more compelling
to new people outside the open movement today.

We’ll be in touch over the next couple of weeks with more information.

Quick FAQ:

/Do I have to use the new logo for my group?/ - No, you don’t have to,
but we hope you like the new look and will want to use it. There is no
deadline for when Central will have all of our websites using the new
logo, and there is no deadline for you to decide when you want to change.

/Will there be templates for us to use?/ - Yes, we’re still developing
these and we’ll share as soon as we can. There will be lots more help on
the wiki soon!

/When can we see the new website? /- We plan to launch this on April the
14th.

/When can we see the new wiki?/ - Now! Heather and others are running
Community Sessions on IRC (irc.freenode.net <http://irc.freenode.net>
#okfn), see
http://blog.okfn.org/2014/04/01/happy-spring-cleaning-community-style/.
