[okfn-br] Fwd: Inquiry OK Brazil involvement in Open Development Camp 2014 Amsterdam

Pessoal,

vejam o e-mail abaixo da Kersti sobre esse evento em Amsterdam entre os
dias 9 e 10 de outubro. Eles estão sentindo falta de projetos brasileiros
sobre os tópicos sendo discutidos em torno de desenvolvimento aberto, então
a Open Knowledge Brasil foi lembrada devido ao trabalho que estamos fazendo.

Falei com a Kersti que iria mandar um e-mail para a lista para ver quais
tópicos vocês acham que podem ser interessantes falarmos. Alguns tópicos
que pensei:

1) Criação da Open Knowledge Brasil: desafios, aprendizados, projetos em
andamento, impacto etc.
2) Escola de dados: tudo o que está sendo feito e a grande demanda pelo
projeto aqui no Brasil (basta ver a quantidade de pessoas que participam
das atividades que estamos desenvolvendo.
3) Grupo de Trabalho em Ciência Aberto: bem, o Abdo está ajudando a
organizar um evento internacional no Brasil sobre ciência aberta, fora a
rápida rede formada em torno do tema.
4) Pensei também no projeto vaimudar.org, pois estamos tentando visualizar
como funcionam as redes de poder ao redor do evento através de nossas
análises (vejam no site as  publicadas até o momento) e algumas
visualizações dos perfis dos eventolvidos.

O que acham dos tópicos que pensei? Alguém está interessado no assunto?
Sugestões de temas?

Acho super importante levarmos o que estamos fazendo, pois minha sensação é
que muitas vezes lá fora não sabem de alguns projetos sendo feitos no
Brasil ou fico tudo muito centrado numa perspectiva europeia ou americana.
E, como a Kersti me disse, ela sente falta da participação brasileira.

Hey Everton,

This is Kersti, the OK Ambassador of the Netherlands. Next to my OK
involvement I am involved in the freelance network Open for Change
<http://openforchange.info/content/opendev-debate-okcon-and-odc13-okfest>
here and amongst other things we are running an annual Open Development camp
<http://www.opendevelopmentcamp.org/>. This year we are going into the
forth round with ODC14 in October and we are currently crafting the concept
and program. Open Knowledge has always been involved, last year Zara and
Katalyn were running a School of Data session for instance.

This year our program will be structured around a number of 'local cases'
as points of departure. We will then craft specific workshops, clinics,
talks, tools, discourse sessions etc. sessions around those.

We already have several case owners (organizations who bring in a local
case, as in a project they are working in / challenge they are dealing with
in their local context. However, we are trying to have some more geographic
diversity and this is where the OK network came in. My colleague Pelle (in
CC) and I had a call with Christian the other day and one of our
considerations was to see if any of the OK chapters or local groups might
be interested to bring in a case or to contribute with a relating session.

On the overarching level we aim to address the bigger questions relating to
1) Agency, citizenship and representation
2) Democracy and shifting political power relations
3) Rights, responsibilities and ethics

The cases we potentially have so far are dealing with

a) Community-based impact assessment: collecting stories and opinions to
make sense of what is changing in people's lives.

b) Citizen reporting: creating your own local news and reporting to the
world.

c) Holding your government accountable: election monitoring, legal
frameworks and community-based social justice.

I always have the impression that OK Brazil is very active and therefore
you came straight to my mind. It would be great to hear what you or your
broader network is currently working on and if you might be interested in a
collaboration.

If you like we can also arrange a Skype meeting one of these days so I can
explain a bit more and we can discuss in more detail.
