On May 7th, there will be a public announcement, so this is confidential
for now: we have just confirmed Open Knowledge Ireland as the latest
Chapter!

Please welcome their representative, Denis Parfenov, to the Advisory
Council.

Denis has been doing great work as the Open Knowledge Ambassador for
Ireland thus far and it's great to see all the work the team in Ireland
have done so far. The step up to being a Chapter will help propel open
knowledge in Ireland especially as the Open Government Partnership meetings
in the next week will be a great platform.

Denis Parfenov is the Founder and Director of ActiveCitizen, a grassroots,
politically neutral, non-profit community initiative which builds bridges
between citizens and their governments through open–source technology
tools, communications and advocacy. He holds a Masters degree in
International Business from University College of Dublin and a Masters
degree in International Relations from Dublin City University. As the Open
Knowledge Ambassador for Ireland, which leads Open Data Ireland Community,
Denis initiated (Sept. 2011), managed and successfully executed civic
campaign which resulted in a commitment of the Irish government to
participating in the Open Government Partnership (20 May 2013).
