Écohack travaille derrière les coulisses depuis quelques mois et nous
sommes heureux de pouvoir finalement vous partager des nouvelles
excitantes !            - Une nouvelle co-directrice à la tête
d’ÉcoHackMTL - Marathon Créatif Hiver 2016 : abolir  la dépendance de
MTL aux énergies fossiles - Lancement de Écohack Estrie à Sherbrooke -
Nouveau partenariat avec le MIT (oui le célèbre MIT !)

    *Bienvenue : Nouvelle co-directrice du Écohack*

Nous sommes ravis d’accueillir Gaëlle Janvier dans son nouveau rôle de
co-directrice de ÉcoHack. Gaëlle est une organisatrice émérite et un des
membres fondateurs de l’équipe de ÉcoHackMTL. Elle travaille activement
dans le domaine de la durabilité urbaine à Montréal et à l’international
en tant que chargée de projet à Alternatives et co-fondatrice de Lande.

    *Marathon Créatif Hiver 2016 *

Notre prochain hackathon aura lieu cet hiver. Cette année nous serrons
les rangs avec l’Office de consultation publique, Hacking Health et
d’autres groupes d’innovation technologique. Sous la forme d’un marathon
créatif, la communauté sera apportée à répondre à un défi majeur : la
réduction de la dépendance montréalaise aux énergies fossiles. Le
hackathon contribuera à la consultation publique déjà en cours. Pour

    Collaboration avec le MIT

Nous avons tout juste formé un autre partenat, celui-ci avec le célèbre
Centre d’Intelligence Collective du /Massachusetts Institute of
Technology/ (MIT). Le centre mène une grande compétition afin de faire
émerger des réponses innovantes aux changements climatiques.
Le /MIT Climate CoLab / a une portée importante, avec plus de 50,000
participants et un auditoire international. Leur plateforme sera un
levier qui nous aidera à inciter d’avantage de gens à créer des
approches technologiques innovantes vers des villes durables. Vous

    ÉcoHackEstrie à Sherbooke

Le modèle ÉcoHack est en pleine évolution. ÉcoHack Estrie leur premier
événement à Sherbrooke au printemps 2016. Nous avons formé un
partenariat afin de conseiller leur équipe d’organisateurs. Si vous êtes

ÉcoHackMTL has been busy behind the scenes these last few months, and we
are glad to finally be able to share all the exciting news.  Here’s a
rundown of the big announcements in this newsletter:

  * ÉcoHackMTL has a new co-director
  * Winter 2016 Hackathon: Breaking MTL’s Dependency on Fossil Fuels
  * ÉcoHack Estrie launches in Sherbrooke
  * New partnership with MIT (yes, that MIT).

    Welcome: new écoHackMTL co-director

We’re pleased to announce that Gaëlle Janvier will be taking on the role
of co-director. Gaëlle is a powerhouse organizer and one of the founding
members of the écoHackMTL team. She’s worked extensively on urban
sustainability here in Montreal and internationally, most recently in
her work as a lead project manager with Alternatives and co-founder at
Lande.

    Winter 2016 Creative Marathon

Our next hackathon will be in the winter of 2016 in the form of a
creative Marathon. Rather than go it alone, we are joining forces with
the Office de Consultation Publique de Montréal (OCPM), Hacking Health,
and others to target our biggest challenge so far:  Breaking Montreal’s
Dependence on Fossil Fuels. The hackathon will contribute to the broader
public consultation on creating a zero-carbon city that has just
launched. Make sure to watch for more details on this over the next few

    ÉcoHackEstrie in Sherbooke

The écoHack model is on the move. EcoHack Estrie is organizing their
first event in Sherbrooke in early 2016. We’ll be partnering with them

    *ÉcoHackMTL and MIT’s Climate CoLab*

We’ve just recently formed a partnership with MIT’s Center for
Collective Intelligence. The Center runs a massive on-line competition
to crowdsource innovative responses to climate change. The project is
called the MIT Climate CoLab, and it has amazing reach (think over
50,000 participants and a global audience).  We’ll be bringing our
écoHack magic to their platform and using it as a springboard to engage
even more people in coming up with new tech-savvy approaches to
