Thanks very much for that, Karsten. Really appreciated you being there, and
it's great to hear you had a good time! We'll be sending out a thank you
email and recap post via the Open Knowledge Foundation later this week
ourselves :)

Karsten's email inspires me to chime in with what has been on my mind since Helsinki. It was a job very well done by the organizing committee. A festival (doesn't feel right calling it a conference; festival is indeed the correct term) that stands out as one of the very few in the past many years that I learned from and also enjoyed thoroughly.

As a new Creative Commons employee, and one attending OKFestival for the first time, I was so heartened at seeing what I kept on calling in mind, "My community, my tribe." It is usually fun though not challenging to hang out with those who agree with you, but this was different -- I found all the different streams I attended both fun *and* challenging.

Oh, and please let me know who thought of hosting the event at that Aalto School of Design -- I need to buy that person a beer as recognition for a most inspired decision. The space embodied everything that the event was about, or vice versa.

Puneet.

Puneet,

Thank you so much. Such nice words to read! I'm CC'ing my colleagues also
on the Core Organising Team - Juha, Jussi, Antti, Massimo and Petri - so
they can read this too. The venue was a collective decision amongst all of
us along with the core partners (the Open Knowledge Foundation, the Finnish
Insitute in London, and Aalto Media Factory), and we were aided by a team
of extremely talented spatial and graphic design students (also CC'd) at
the university who worked for months to make it feel like a real gathering
space.

I know everyone on the organising team will really appreciate your
enthusiasm for the event. It was an amazing project for all of us to be
involved in, the community of guest organisers were extremely inspiring,
and we were blown away by how great the atmosphere was during the week.
That positivity was really due to participants like yourself who came from
all over the world to spend a week building new things, sharing ideas and
getting to know new people.

So thank you again for your kind words, and for joining us - looking
forward to seeing you and the rest of the tribe next time.

Kat
