[okfn-discuss] OKFN local groups and ambassadors signing up petition

Keep in mind that Google itself has claimed not to have cooperated in the
PRISM project.

Mind you, I myself actually believe that a corporation which exercises
commercial control over so much user data is no more desirable than a
government which exercises political control over so much user data. In
other words, my defense of Google here only goes so far as to say that they
have claimed not to have cooperated with PRISM. Google is, in its own way,
a commercial version of PRISM already, aimed at maximizing profit; and
profit always comes at someone's expense.

But all of these things are also our opinions. Many may not agree with my
own mistrust of commercial / corporate data control. The point is, it may
not be a simple matter for OKFn to take a particular public stance when all
of us may disagree on some things about it.
