Dear Masayuki, Zara and all,

I hope this finds you well.

To my regret, I could not make sufficient time for reviewing the Japan data. So, I trust that Masayuki has made fine reviews.

Hoping to contribute to this next time.

Best regards,

Hiroichi

Hi,

I finished the review on Japan data. I might not be the best person for reviewing it (since I'm the one who answered most of questions ;-), so I hope Hiroichi can now review and edit the spreadsheet.

If something is unclear, don't hesitate to ask me.

Best regards,
MH

Hi Hiroichi and Masayuki,

I just wanted to email and check if we're on track to get all of Japan's data<https://docs.google.com/a/okfn.org/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AiWM2KV46Zt0dENNajVUTGNxa1ptZ1VSUG1Xa3FULWc#gid=0> reviewed by our deadline, next Wednesday? (Although ideally, we would love it done by Tuesday June 11th, so we have time to analyse the data too!)

You should both have editing rights to the spreadsheet of Japan's data, linked above (and below!) - please see the Guidelines <https://docs.google.com/a/okfn.org/document/d/1e7VnmGBFDfQXC84usZwwDTABSAL0j3CQ42-8ulYWn_Q/edit> for more information, and please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Just to clarify - the more people who review this, the better! Just add more rows into the spreadsheet to record your reviewing results.

Thank you! We would really appreciate it if you could spend a little bit of time on this between now and Tuesday.

Best,

Zara

Hi Hiroichi,

Thanks for your time on this!

To make things easier for you, we've prepared Japan's data in a spreadsheet for you here<https://docs.google.com/a/okfn.org/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AiWM2KV46Zt0dENNajVUTGNxa1ptZ1VSUG1Xa3FULWc&usp=drive_web>, ready for review. We've also prepared Guidelines<https://docs.google.com/a/okfn.org/document/d/1e7VnmGBFDfQXC84usZwwDTABSAL0j3CQ42-8ulYWn_Q/edit> for you to guide you through the review process.

Let us know if you have any further questions - we're aiming to have this completed by June 12th (one week!) so your help on this is really appreciated.

Best,

Zara

Hi Hiroichi,

Thank you very much for helping out with the Census! I have additionally added you to the Census Editor discussion list - as well as the name list. Also Masayuki Hatta has volunteered, so it's great to have both of you lend a hand! Do you know each other?

We'll be sending specific instructions to you both in a little bit - as Japan as G8 country has special priority!

-Christian

Dear Hiroichi,

This is excellent to hear. I have shared the editing rights with you for the GoogleDoc, so that you can freely review the edits for Japan.

All the best,
Anders

Dear Anders,

Thank you for your suggestion to us on the importance of updating Japan's status in the Open Data Census.

We are surely interested in updating this dataset. I will share your reminder with my colleagues in OKFJ and will do our best.

Hopefully, we will back to you after having discussed on this.

Regards,
Hiroichi

件名: Help review Japan in the Open Data Census

Hi Hiroichi,

I'm contacting you again, this time as we're currently looking to improve the coverage of the Open Data Census (http://census.okfn.org/<http://census.okfn.org/>) and especially verify existing contributions to ensure information is still up to date and reliable.

One of the countries, that we'd like to review is Japan as we'd like to verify that the entries made to the census is up to date and correct.

I'd therefore ask your help:

 * Reviewing existing contributions - you will need access to the review spreadsheet<https://docs.google.com/a/okfn.org/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AiWM2KV46Zt0dGxMVVo3c3JKZ2U0NHVzZVozSEJwdXc#gid=0> (let me know and I can add you)

This would involve a relatively small amount of time over the next week until June 12th and would involve both adding information yourself and mobilizing input and expertise from colleagues to contribute.

It would be great if you could help review Japan. Let me know if you have questions and I'd be glad to help out via Skype or email.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Anders

Dear Anders,

I hope this finds you well. (Writing a blogpost on WDMMG in Japan is on my "To Do" list, which I have kept my attention.)

By the way, the Nikkei, Japan's Wall Street Journal, gave me an email yesterday asking us to let the Nikkei feature the WDMMG Yokohama image (http://spending.jp/) on their nation-wide page.

To be on the safe side, I checked the Open Definition license attached with the original WDMMG (http://opendefinition.org/), and found the following sentence: Software is excluded despite its obvious centrality because it is already adequately addressed by previous work.

For the purpose of spreading the WDMMG all over Japan, this is a great chance to demonstrate what the WDMMG is to the interested audience all over Japan, so we would like to say to the Nikkei, "It is fine, please use it on the Nikkei news paper freely."

However, I would like to make sure whether there is any condition that we should be care about before responding to the Nikkei. Could you give me your advice on this? Your response at your earliest convenience is highly appreciated.

PS. I am copying this email with the president and the co-founder of OKFJ.

Best regards,

Hiroichi

Dear Hiroichi,

I just saw this piece tweeted:
http://blogs.itmedia.co.jp/business20/2013/05/where-does-my-m-f3a6.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

and was reminded that we'd really like to feature the great work you've been doing across Japanese cities on mapping spending.

Is there any chance you or your colleagues, would be interesting writing up a blog post about the work you've done on city budgets?

Regards,
Anders
