Hi Stephen,

I can’t answer all of your questions (someone else on the Index/Census team will), but specifically about issues related to code and content on the web app itself, please open issues on the census issue tracker here:

It is best if you keep each issue focused on one thing (i.e.: a different issue on the tracker for each distinct problem/bug/suggestion you have).

Several of us get notifications for the issues on Github, so rest assured that even if you do not get an immediate answer, it has been noted, and will be dealt with.
