Hi Mor,
It appears only Matthew and I have signed up to meet with you on Wed – encourage others with an interest to sign up on the Doodle poll.
I’ve been trying to find when/where you and Tim are presenting. Please advise. Thx and look forward to chatting.
Cheers Jury Konga

Hi Matthew and all,
Sorry for the late reply.
This is an excellent idea! Feedback is always welcome and it will make the census even better.
I booted a doodle poll here - http://doodle.com/ayvtick478m445hb
Please fill it so we can arrange a time to meet.
All the best,
Mor

Greetings Mor,
Thank you for sharing an update on the Open Data census and also your presentation in Ottawa. I will be in Canada and have earmarked your session to attend. If other persons using the platform will be present, it might be good to have a separate meet/conversation with the different organizations that are using the census platform to talk about their experiences and also to provide feedback to yourself and the team.

Dear Stephen,
I am really glad you are looking into different kinds of benchmarking. Tim Davies and I will present a paper about open data assessment in Ottawa. It will look at the census alongside other tools and I encourage all of you who will be in Canada to come and participate in this season during the open data research symposium.
In addition, we are developing a roadmap to the census, we hope to share it with you all as soon as possible.
Best regards,
Mor

Hi Mor,
thank you for the update. The problem has been quite persistent and a little embarrassing when trying to promote the census across Australia. I'll stop logging issues on GitHub knowing that the system administrators are being notified behind the scenes. I look forward to a sustainable solution.
It would being interesting to have a roadmap for the global, regional and local open data census platform. I am looking to other open data quality initiatives such as Open Data Certificates and the Open Data Monitor. I'd be interest to hear your view on how the census is positioned along side those complementary / competing tools. Has a roadmap been developed and can it be shared?
thanks

Dear Census and Index users and admins,
In the last couple of months we have been experiencing some faults with our local open data census instances and the Global open data index and we wanted to give you a bit of background on what causes the problems and the way forward.
The errors are due to the fact that The Census codebase is built on top of Google Spreadsheets, which serves as the database for all submissions and places. Google Spreadsheets makes it easy to get the Census up and running, and also provides easy access for content editing. However, over time, and as the census has grown, we have increasingly experienced problems with the way we connect to Google Spreadsheets, leading to errors that require manual intervention. We are dealing with those during European and Indian office hours.
If you do experience a fault on one of the Census instance - please know that we are getting notifications from Google about this as it happens and we are dealing with them asap. There is no need to notify us separately. We thank you for your cooperation and patience so far.
There are various technical solutions to address the connectivity issues, and we are now discussing how and when we will make such changes. Hopefully we can resolve this issue once and for all soon. If you want to help us with the back-end of the census or if you have any more questions, please let us know either on-list or by emailing index at okfn.org.
Best regards,
Mor, on behalf of the Open Knowledge team
