*You’re invited to join the next Tech at State event, on Data Visualization,
taking place on Sept. 23-24. Please register
here<http://techatstateday1.eventbrite.com/>
to secure your spot. *
This event will look at data, literally, as we explore new and innovative
data visualization techniques, and their applications for international
development practice and research.
Day 1 of the conference will be held in the Atrium and Foyers of the Kennedy
Center, featuring keynote speaker Edward Tufte (see Tufte: Beautiful
Evidence <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Th_1azZA2OY>).
Day 2 will be an informal "Unconference" to allow participants to
brainstorm, network, and create their own agenda together.
Other expert panelists will address the open data movement and how to
leverage visualization techniques for planning, implementing, and monitoring
aid projects. Breakout sessions will focus on key sectors and themes,
including: data visualization to support disaster response and coordination;
visualization for aid transparency; mobile technology and new media; and
others. More details on the agenda will be posted on http://tech.state.gov as
they are confirmed.
The event is organized by the U.S. Department of State<http://www.state.gov>
, Development Gateway <http://www.developmentgateway.org>,
AidData<http://www.aiddata.org>,
and the World Bank Institute <http://wbi.worldbank.org>. It is made possible
