Hi everyone,

Trust you all are keeping well.

I have finally taken the plunge and created a site for http://slashopen.net.
If you recall, I asked if such a thing existed at the Open Data for
Development Camp in May and found that it did not. So here it is! A site to
encourage open data sites to add /open pages, and potentially a community
where people can get help with their efforts to go open data and gain
acceptance for it within their organizations. I've written a "hello world"
blog post which I'd like to invite you to check out at
http://slashopen.net/2011/09/hello-world/

Let me know what you think and if you'd like to contribute in any way on
developing slashopen. In particular I will need help with the guidelines
page which I think others might be in a better position to write than me. It
would also be great to have help from a graphic designer to develop a set of
badges to help build community around the /open idea.

And an update on another front: I'm pleased to report that the Kabissa Board
of Directors has agreed to press on with going open data with the Kabissa
organization directory, as I proposed at http://kabissa.org/open .. now the
next step is to implement it. It shouldn't be too difficult since our site
is built with Drupal and CiviCRM which include API features. Please let me
know if you know of any funders interested in funding open data projects
like this, or skilled developers who can devote time to developing it.

Cheers,

Tobias
