Hi everyone,
One key aspect of Open Development (however we define it) is a feedback loop from the local constituencies involved to those that develop and manage development projects in that area, country, or internationally. I'm personally very interested in this aspect, and I've been able to convince the World Bank that I should lead a discussion on in in London, as part of their larger conference on it in DC. Knowing this list's great interest in citizen engagement as well, I'd like to personally invite you all to RSVP for:
Citizen Voices UK - A Global Conference on Citizen Engagement with the World Bank, Development Gateway, and Plan UK
Citizen Voices UK will focus on citizen engagement and feedback systems that strengthen the quality of policy making and the science of service delivery, and where the impact on the poor is most direct - the citizen engagement component of Open Development
In case the forwarded invite below doesn't come through, you can get more info and the RSVP link here: http://us6.campaign-archive2.com/?u=741012580677f9fb0b79d2b9e&id=6364e4b6ae&e=0d8759a122

>
> The morning-long London conference will build on the Washington, DC event to position the citizen engagement agenda as essential for effective development, move practitioners from knowledge to action, and establish concrete partnerships for scaling up at global and national levels
>
> The conference will bring together tech innovators, development specialists, government officials, academics, civil society representatives, World Bank staff and the private sector where experience with client feedback systems is the deepest.
>
> We will open with Martin Tisné, Omidyar Network, leading us in a conversation on the results we are looking to achieve with citizen feedback, followed by three sessions that will include discussions exploring:
>
> Which innovative uses of technology can be transformational?
> What can we learn from the private sector?
