[open-development] Open Development Side Event in Berlin on the 18th July

Hi Katelyn
I’ve just added a proposed session to the etherpad, which I think is the process agreed on the hangout.
It’s added as a morning session - an hour would be enough for us.

I think we are more likely to get non-Open Dev people earlier in the day and if we are able to advertise the times of the sessions in advance.
Looking forward to meeting up with everyone

Peter

Hi Everyone,

Thank you Duncan for getting the ball rolling on this! I booted a etherpad where we can start collecting ideas here<http://pad.okfn.org/p/Open_Development_Fringe_Event>.

From what I remember from early discussions we have space for 100 people for the day! As such, I think it is feasible to do both - structured sessions around other areas of open knowledge as well as an open discussion about emerging themes from the festival!

Regarding other areas of open knowledge, I know that the open science and open education groups both expressed an interest in participating. I have cc'ed both working group coordinators (although I am sure they are on the list anyway!)

Only one month till the festival, I am looking forward to seeing everyone in Berlin very soon!

All the best,
Katelyn

Hi everyone,
The OKFestival is fast approaching. I’m looking forward to seeing a lot of you in Berlin. The festival programme is looking really exciting with lots of different organisations and individuals coming together to run some fascinating sessions!

We have space booked at the Wikimedia building to run an Open Development side event on the 18th July. Hopefully you are all keen to get involved in collaborating to put together some interesting sessions during this side event.

My initial ideas for the side event would be to give space for some sessions for open space to discuss themes or issues emerging from the formal OKFestival programme – this seemed to work really well in Geneva.

It would be good to also have some more structured sessions for different areas of open knowledge in relation to open development. Off the top of my head and these are only a few suggestions – I’m sure you’ll have others ☺

• Data: emerging issues in data (IATI, OpenContracting, OpenBudgets, etc)

• Content: emerging issues in open content (LandPortal, GOKH, etc)

• Tracking usage of open knowledge – how can we track the usage of open data and content? How can this help in advocacy for “open”? Does this get us any closer to assessing impact?

I’ve set up a doodle to try to organise a call on Monday or Tuesday next week to start getting things organised. It would be great if you could get involved.
