Dear all,

I would like to introduce a blog post by Marc Joffe about a new open
database of historical sovereign risk data. The database contains revenue
and expenditure data, public debt and interests costs from the 19th century
through 2011, as well as crisis indicators taken from Reinhart and Rogoff’s
public database.

This project is a collaborative effort and it encourages participation,
having Wiki-style capabilities to the user interface. "Users who wish to
make changes can log in with an OpenID and edit individual data points."
The project will ultimately aid in the creation of "unbiased and
transparent models of sovereign credit risk".

We are convinced in the value of this project and look forward to people
engaging with the data and gaining insights about public sector debt and
the financial crisis.
