Dear All,
(With apologies for cross posting.)
Earlier this summer Cetis, in collaboration with SQA, Jisc RSC Scotland and the ALT Scotland SIG, facilitated the Open Scotland Summit at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh. The Summit brought together senior representatives from a wide range of Scottish education institutions, organisations and agencies to discuss open education policy for Scotland. The event provided senior managers, policy makers and key thinkers with an opportunity to critically reflect on the national and global impact of open education, to share strategic priorities and to scope collaborative activities to encourage the development of open education policies and practices to benefit the Scottish education sector as a whole.
The team behind the Open Scotland Summit have now launched the Open Scotland blog, http://openscot.wordpress.com/ which will act as a focal point to engage the community in discussion and debate, disseminate news and developments relating to all aspects of openness in Scottish education and to further the actions and deliverables discussed at the Summit. All resources, presentation and outputs from the Edinburgh Summit, including the Open Scotland Keynote by Dr Cable Green of Creative Commons, have now been collated on the blog, which will also feature a periodic series of guest posts from open education innovators.
The launch of the Open Scotland blog coincides with SQA's announcement (http://www.sqa.org.uk/sqa/67688.html) that it will work in partnership with the Mozilla Foundation and the Open Badges in Scottish Education Group (OBSEG, http://www.rsc-scotland.org/?page_id=3068) to support the adoption of Open Badges across a range of Scottish education sectors. A positive step for all those interested in supporting the development of open education policy and practice.
Best Wishes
Lorna
