Great to hear from you both!! Let's have more introductions ;-)
I'm Marieke Guy and I work for the Open Knowledge Foundation
<http://okfn.org> on the LinkedUp project <http://linkedup-project.eu>.
LinkedUp is encouraging release and use of public, open data on the Web,
in particular by educational institutions and organisations. We are
doing this through a series of three prototype development competitions
called the LinkedUp Challenge <http://linkedup-challenge.org>. We've
just announced the winners
<http://linkedup-project.eu/2013/09/17/veni-competition-winners/> of our
first competition (Veni) and they demonstrate some amazing ways of using
the open data out there for teaching and learning.
As part of the sustainability of the project we have established the
Open Education Working Group <http://education.okfn.org> - which was
officially launched on Tuesday
<http://education.okfn.org/launch-of-open-education-working-group/>!
Through the Group we want to build a global community around open
education. We want to bring together the pockets of activity that are
happening (so please let us know about your projects!) and the people
that are working on this area. We also want to enable this new community
to begin to work on global, cross-sectoral initiatives that consider all
aspects of open education - from OERs and data, to changes in learning
practice, policy and culture.
It's going to be a big task and we're going to need some help!
Hope to hear from more of you soon.
Marieke
