Hi Marieke,

Hmm, these are good questions. In my mind, the main points of interception
is to do with data and information and how we use and manage these, and the
laws governing them, though it will be really good to see some over-lapping
courses and knowledge-sharing activities.

You are right, there are not many resources that tackle open education,
health and other social services in comparison has a lot and which can be
adapted. We have cataloged a few of them in the resource guide being
developed now and I will email the link once its up on the Wiki. We would
also be crowd sourcing input into it as I'm sure there are many other
resources out there which we do not know of. This one, Privacy, Anonymity
and Big Data in the Social Sciences
<http://queue.acm.org/detail.cfm?id=2661641> is a good one which was shared
earlier on the list.

The privacy statements you shared are good starting points, though
understandably, they only cover the use of those specific platforms; I
particularly like the case study from British Columbia and will be
including it in the resource guide. Thanks for sharing!

And on the laws front, here is some advancement from the US on student data
protection, the student data protection bill
<http://www.nola.com/politics/index.ssf/2014/04/house_overwhelmingly_passes_st.html>,
which would restrict access to student data and passed a few months ago.

Cheers,
Sally
