Dear Hakikur Rahman,
In Nigeria, distance education degrees are recognised, when they are
obtained from duly accredited institutions. Presently, the National Open
University of Nigeria (NOUN) is the only dedicated single-mode open and
distance learning university in Nigeria. NOUN offers undergraduate and
post-graduate degrees in a variety of academic programmes, in addition, to
short proficiency certificate courses. Another institution is the National
Teachers Institute, which offers pre-service teacher training programmes
and post-graduate diploma in education courses. In addition to these, there
a number of dual mode universities across Nigeria offering degrees to
on-campus and off site (distance) learners. Holders of certificates from
these institutions are fully recognised for employment opportunities and
further academic articulation.
I will be happy to respond to further enquiries about distance education in
Nigeria.
Felix
