Jo, Gobe et al,
I know you both are aware of what the OGC is doing, but I mention
these things for others on the list:
The OGC Catalog Services Working Group (http://www.opengeospatial.org/projects/groups/cat3.0swg
), chaired by Doug Nebert of the US Federal Geographic Data
Committee, is working on issues of interest to the OKFN Working Group
on Geodata. They are working on the next rev of the OpenGIS Catalogue
Service Implementation Specification (http://www.opengeospatial.org/standards/specifications/catalog
).
Other, i.e. non-catalog, search methods are a frequent subject of
discussion in the OGC community.
The work of the OGC GeoRM Standards Working Group (http://www.opengeospatial.org/projects/groups/georm1.0swg
) is relevant to the work of the the OKFN Working Group on Geodata.
The Marine Metadata Interoperability organization's work with the OGC (http://marinemetadata.org/community/teams/presence/ogcgeosem2009dec
) is relevant to open data. I think any of the presenters mentioned
on that MMI page would be happy to answer questions.
Several recent articles in the AGU's EOS newsletter have mentioned the
OGC.
Good luck!
Lance
