[OpenGLAM] Restyling the Open Collections area on the GLAM site

Hi all,

I always like to play with the Europeana API when I see these kinds of questions.

I made a simple overview of all collections on Europeana that are completely open (where all objects are either PDM, CC0, CC BY, CC BY-SA), there are exactly 100 of the 746 data providers on Europeana that qualify for this. You can find them in an overview here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10c8JT1-lQbuMFwRs61-q3TQUJOdi-jyQWOMuHJFCMs0/edit?usp=sharing <https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10c8JT1-lQbuMFwRs61-q3TQUJOdi-jyQWOMuHJFCMs0/edit?usp=sharing>

When you want to check out a collection simply copy the content of a cell in the first column and replace <REPLACE ME> in the URL: http://www.europeana.eu/portal/search.html?query=DATA_PROVIDER%3A%22<REPLACE ME>%22

Good promoting all these collections!

Cheers,

Maarten Zeinstra

I would see the aggregators indicated through tags - so people can filter to see only the collections themselves or see aggregators or even all resources available. i.e. the top level of an aggregator would be just another item in the database. But maybe other people have different ideas on how we could do this? Possibly through harvesting APIs? My technical skills let me down here!

I for example do not think it is feasible and useful if we go into these aggregators and pick out the open collections to copy to the OpenGLAM site. Sounds like duplication of work which is too much for a volunteer led effort (but maybe I am wrong here).

In terms of finding extra GLAMs you might find this "Sources" page at The Public Domain Review useful - though I actually also need to badly update this myself! http://publicdomainreview.org/sources/ <http://publicdomainreview.org/sources/> There's lots of newly opened collection not listed on there such as Harvard, Qatar Digital LIbrary and more...
