Dear all,

First of all a happy new year!

The year is off to a good start: the New York Public Library made over
180.000 digital items in the public domain available for high resolution
download, together with a great new website stimulating people to reuse
this material creatively. You can read more on the OpenGLAM blog at
http://openglam.org/2016/01/06/nypl-public-domain-collections-free-to-share-reuse/
and
in this NY Times article:
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/06/books/new-york-public-library-invites-a-deep-digital-dive.html

Also new on the OpenGLAM blog is a post about the work going on in the
Europeana Space Photography pilot. Clarissa Colangelo of KU Leuven reports
on a recent workshop where participants were more than willing to license
their photographs openly, and announces the Phtotgraphy hackathon that will
take place next month at the FabLab Leuven:

Best regards, Lieke Ploeger
