Dear All,

I have found much interest in the initiative worked on in the US with
http://democracymap.org.
I am currently working at Parlorama (www.parlorama.eu) along with Edouard
Meier.
Our objectives are to support the open data/government causes. We focus on
studying disclosure in public data (notably the regulations and their
practical applications) in the entire European territory. In order to do so,
a software has been created in order to grab comprehensive data in a
particular field. For instance, we released two studies on the Members of
the European Parliament's performance using numerous criteria, each of them
based on transparency in deputies' information such as their speeches,
questions, reports etc.
The software suite allow us to get data from every jurisdictional level in
the EU, depending of course on the transparency degree shown in each
assembly.
I should ad that we are preparing a study which will enable anyone to
compare the degree of transparency between each legislative parliamentary
assembly of the European Union (27 national assemblies + European
Parliament).

So to reply to Steven, I would say that we are working on the same project;
aiming to shorten the link between elected representatives and constituents.
Parlorama still has a long way to go in order to achieve its transparency
goals and we warmly welcomed your email. We invite you check
www.regiorama.eu which shows the study on the regional council of
Ile-de-France.

We look forward to hearing from you as we are eager to know more about your
initiative.

Best regards,

Julien Baillergeau

Subject: [open-government] National open dataset on all government
jurisdictions and ...
To: "open-government at lists.okfn.org" <open-government at lists.okfn.org>

Is anyone aware of an open data set on:

1. All official government jurisdictions within a country
2. That includes a maintained directory of the official top level web
address for those jurisdictions
3. That also includes listing of all elected representatives for those
jurisdictions
4. As well as district boundaries and the like

This is what what are working on in the U.S. with http://democracymap.org

The idea is from one address search or click on the map, you should be able
to quickly find out exactly who governs you and represents you from the most
local level up.
