Apps for Italy is the Italian competition for innovative projects based on public data and it is open to citizens, associations and developers from all EU countries.

All EU citizens can participate, using public data (data available on Internet gathered by “site scraping”) or open data (data available with open licenses).

Submissions cover four categories (Ideas and Projects, Applications, Datasets and Visualizations) and will be open until February the 10th.

The entries for apps4italy don’t need to original – feel free to reuse yours good ideas – and the data can come from all EU countries, not only from Italy; we are a Union so let’s join our forces.

The total amount in cash prizes is 40.000€ plus several “in kind” prizes offered by Amazon Web Services, Google, Microsoft, AppsBuilder and the TOP-IX Consortium.

The awarding ceremony will be at the beginning or March in Rome and the Italian Minister of Education will give the prizes.

Creativity, innovativeness and interoperability are the keywords of the competition, with a focus on the current and most relevant Italian and European challenges.

Get involved! Let’s prove together that the re-use of Open Data can help to tackle major issues and improve innovation, democratic participation and transparency in Italy and Europe!
