It would be good to bring OGD and CSOs together, but this may be difficult. For the 2010 Open Data camp, there was funding specifically to fly over people from transparency organisations.  

In London we are also trying to bridge these worlds and engage in the actual commitments. We have a meeting soon and we could ask if anyone else is going to Helsinki.

I am ccing here Paul Maassen, who is the international civil society coordinator for the OGP.

 2. Drafting a policy paper / manifesto from the perspective of the OGD Community to the OGP process

The pad says the paper could relate to the OGP challenges, but it may make sense to also cover, or even focus on, the overall process. For example, each country can pick and choose which challenges it engages with so it is unclear what common initiatives there could be, and there are also questions about the monitoring of plans, changing them, etc.

3. A workshop for Government representatives inside/outside OPG

It would be more interesting to get government and non-government together to see what collaboration could look like. There appears to be a common thread in most country analyses coming out after Brazilia that the OGP has started at high speed at the cost of consultation and government working with civil society.

It looks a nice initiative but I am not sure how this could relate to the OGP without some extra tweaking.

The proposal on the pad from Louhos/soRvi again looks interesting but not directly connected to the OGP.

Something that would be very useful would be a Hackathon on the OGP commitments themselves, with links to other areas such company data from OpenCorporates, but also the RTI-rating.org, IATI, GIFF, etc.

There is a project for a global site for civil society to monitor an track country commitments and a Brazilian organisation has build a CSV with all the 55 country National action plans.

We just spoke to the UK OGP team last week and are now waiting for them to prepare a roadmap for the next year. Now is the time to ask them if they would want to budget in a trip to Finland.
