[open-government] Examples of open data leading to increase in data quality?

Hi Jonathan,
As someone who has worked on open data projects -in a science context- I
would argue
that much of the work of publishing a dataset is in cleaning it up so as to
be compatible
with whatever mechanism of dissemination is being employed. The cleaning
process inevitably
increases the data quality. The example given above by Ton is a classic
example of the kind
of problems that are discovered in the course of having a technician work
through a dataset
to make it open.
