[open-government] Help the NZ gov with: Consultations listing on Govt.nz

Perhaps you know of governments that have automated their government
consultations calendar?
This sounds like an ideal open source opportunity where the solution
could be shared widely to benefit of citizens everywhere. Perhaps
something leveraging Poplus.org components? - Steven Clift

Subject: [ninjas] Consultations listing on Govt.nz
To: ninja-talk at groups.open.org.nz
Hi all
Hope you're doing swimmingly today!
I've been really remiss* in mentioning this here already, but:
Govt.nz has been working on compiling a national list of
consultations, both national and local. At present we compile them
manually (so not doubt we're missing some), but we're looking at ways
to auomate/improve that.
You can find the listing at http://www.govt.nz/consultations
You'll notice that the page itself only shows those consultations
which are open, or those which have recently closed or about to open.
Not to worry, though - we are keeping all of them in the database on
the backend, and will surface them all through our API when that's
ready.
We've also been talking to people about which extra features they'd
like to see on the listing (it's an MVP, so relatively basic).
Suggestions have included:
- a visual map where people can select areas of interest
- more filtering options (national v local, date ranges, areas)
- notifications by email of any filters chosen
- ability to combine multiple filters in a boolean-type way.
More suggestions and comment always welcome, of course!
Warm regards,
aimee
* Apologies :)
