The Department of Swedish at the University of Gothenburg has a vacancy for
one or more postdoctoral fellow positions (one year, with a possible
extension of up to one additional year) in Language Technology. The
successful candidates will be placed in the Språkbanken language technology
group <http://spraakbanken.gu.se> and participate in the activities of the
Centre for Language Technology <http://www.clt.gu.se>, a high-profile
cross-disciplinary environment for research collaboration in language
technology, organizers of the successful EACL 2014 conference.

The successful applicant will conduct their research in the project "South
Asia as a linguistic area? Exploring big-data methods in areal and genetic
linguistics" <http://spraakbanken.gu.se/eng/research/lsi>, and specifically
work on developing automatic information extraction and text mining methods
for turning the content of conventional descriptive grammars (in free text)
into formally structured information in a typological database. The source
material will be in English, primarily the 268 grammar sketches from the
Linguistic Survey of India will be targeted.
