There are only two weeks to go to submit session proposals for SciDataCon 2016, 12-13 September 2016: DEADLINE 7 March: http://www.scidatacon.org/2016/

SciDataCon 2016 is organised by ICSU-CODATA and the ICSU World Data System and, as part of International Data Week http://www.internationaldataweek.org/, will be landmark event to examine the role of the data revolution for all fields of research.

SciDataCon 2016 is motivated by the conviction that the most significant contemporary research challenges—and in particular those reaching across traditional disciplines—cannot be properly addressed without paying attention to issues relating to data. The transformative effect of the data revolution needs to be examined from the perspective of all fields of research and its relationship to broader societal developments and to data-driven innovation scrutinised. Taken together these issues form a multi-faceted challenge which cannot be tackled without expertise drawn from many disciplines and diverse roles in the research enterprise. Furthermore, the transformations around data in research are essentially international and the response must be genuinely global. SciDataCon is the international conference for research into these issues.

Further information about the themes and scope of the conference are available at http://www.scidatacon.org/site/themes-scope/

A variety of session formats are invited: traditional research papers, panel discussions, lightning talks etc: http://www.scidatacon.org/site/session-types/

Please note that the Call for Sessions will be followed by a Call for Papers (deadline 17 April 2016). That second call will invite:
papers specifically for sessions approved from the first call; or
papers submitted independent of approved sessions (which if selected will be organised into thematic sessions by the conference committee).
Additionally, a call will be made that this time for posters and demos.

The session proposals will be peer reviewed and high quality. Please make your proposals by 7 March at: http://www.scidatacon.org/2016/
