Göttingen State and University Library (SUB Göttingen) is engaged in several national and international projects on the development of infrastructures and services for electronic publishing and the implementation of Open Access.

In this context, the European project “OpenUP – Opening UP new methods, indicators and tools for peer review, dissemination of research results, and impact measurement” is seeking a

Project Officer

for supporting the forthcoming OpenUP project. This post is offered with immediate effect as a full-time position (39,8 hrs/week) for the project period (overall 2,5 years). Salary is expected to be ca. EUR 40-45.000 p.a. (pro rata, depending on experience; German salary schema for public employees, TV-L E13). The position is suited for part-time employment.

Responsibilities are as follows:

  *   manage a substantial contribution to the project (including leading one work package and contributing to others), working closely with the scientific, innovation and project managers of the project,
  *   coordinate the effective collaboration of all partners contributing to Peer Review Framework work package,
  *   develop a pilot study on how quality assessment and (open) peer review can be applied to research data in the Arts & Humanities,
  *   contribute to the development and roll-out of advocacy and training programmes and events, linking the project activities to all relevant stakeholders,
  *   align with ongoing disciplinary and scholarly communication initiatives, promote and disseminate project results and studies with regards to researchers’ and publishers’ practices.

You will need:

  *   a PhD, Master’s or equivalent degree
  *   a sound knowledge of scholarly communication and publishing processes, (open) peer review, metrics and impact assessment, and/or copyrights are important assets
  *   previous project experience, preferably in international contexts and multiple stakeholders
  *   high communication and organisational skills with a proven ability to work with a wide range of internal and external contacts and stakeholders
  *   team spirit, curiosity, dynamism and sense of initiative
  *   fluent in English (spoken & written), German would be an asset but is not required.
  *   experiences in the field of Public relations or realisation of trainings and experience in giving  international talks will be beneficial

This position offers you an interesting and varied work within a dynamic international team in a pleasant working atmosphere. The post will involve a certain amount of travel both within Europe and internationally.

The EU-funded OpenUP project addresses key aspects and challenges of the currently transforming science landscape and aspires to come up with a cohesive framework for the review-disseminate-assess phases of the research life cycle that is fit to support and promote Open Science. Its main objectives are to a) identify and determine mechanisms, processes and tools for peer-review for all types of research results (publications, data, software), b) explore, identify and classify innovative dissemination mechanisms and c) analyse a set of novel indicators that assess the impact of research results. It will do so by engaging all relevant stakeholders (researchers, publishers, funders, institutions, industry, public) in an open dialogue through a series of workshops, conferences and training, and by validating results via a set of seven pilots involving four selected research communities. It will finally produce a set of concrete policy recommendations and guidelines for national and European stakeholders in order to promote a more open and gender-sensitive science system.
