International Data Week http://www.internationaldataweek.org/ is a major meeting of the international community that cares about the role of data in research (and the attendant issues like reproducibility in science, data policies, data stewardship and advancing data analysis in a world of Big, small and diverse data…).
It is co-organised by CODATA http://codata.org/, the Research Data Alliance https://rd-alliance.org/node and the ICSU World Data System https://www.icsu-wds.org/
It comprises a series of complementary events:
SciDataCon 2016, 11-13 Sept 2016 http://www.scidatacon.org/2016/ - a research conference addressing a range of fundamental issues around the ‘Data Revolution’ and the data-driven transformation of research.
International Data Forum, 14 Sept 2016 a major plenary event and the centrepiece of the week, discussing the major opportunities and challenges of the data revolution, from ‘Big Data’ to ‘Open Data.’ http://www.internationaldataweek.org/content/international-data-forum-0
The 8th RDA Plenary Meeting, 15-17 Sept 2016 making concrete progress in technical and social areas on topics related to research data sharing and exchange https://rd-alliance.org/plenaries/rda-eighth-plenary-meeting-denver-co
Sunday 11 September also sees the WDS Members Forum and the CODATA General Assembly.
