*Metrics in Transition - Einladung zum *metrics Abschlussworkshop am 27./28. März 2019


Das *metrics Projekt lädt alle Interessierten, die *metrics für ihre Arbeit nutzen (wollen) zu seinem kostenlosen Abschlussworkshop in die Niedersächsische Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Göttingen ein.


Am 27. & 28. März 2019 stellt das *metrics-Team die Ergebnisse des Projektes vor und möchte mit der Community weitere Denkansätze zum Thema Metriken diskutieren. Desweiteren wird über den aktuellen Forschungsstand informiert und Kooperationsnetze für die Nachhaltigkeit und Fortentwicklung der Services initiiert.


Wir freuen uns Ihnen unsere beiden Keynote-Sprecher vorstellen zu dürfen:


Joe Wass und Catriona McCallum.


Joe Wass arbeitet für Crossref im Bereich Forschung und Entwicklung. Er ist der technische Leiter des Crossref Event Data Projekts, ein System, das “Events” rund um wissenschaftliche Publikationen erfasst und verbreitet.


Catriona McCallum ist Direktorin für Open Science bei Hindawi. Sie arbeitete u.a. als Editor für PLOS und ist Vorsitzende des OASPA Policy Kommitees und im Beirat von OpenAIRE und der Royal Society (Publishing).

Einreichung von Postern


Wir laden die Workshopteilnehmer herzlich ein, Poster zum Thema Metriken einzureichen. Inhaltlich kann sich das Poster u.a. auf folgende Themen beziehen:


·        Wie funktionieren *Altmetrics? Wie sind Altmetrics in den Service der Bibliothek/des Unternehmens eingebunden?

·        Wie ergänzen Altmetrics traditionelle Metriken?

·        Wie gelingt ein verantwortungsbewusster Umgang mit Metriken?


Bitte reichen Sie ein Abstract zum Poster ( max. 200 Wörter) bis zum 1. März über das Anmeldeformular ein.


Über das Projekt

Ziel des *metrics Projektes ist es, ein tieferes Verständnis von *metrics zu entwickeln, insbesondere im Hinblick auf ihre Aussagekraft und wie sie von Stakeholdern wahrgenommen werden. Dabei spielen die Betrachtung der Qualität der den *metrics zugrundeliegenden Daten (Validität und Reliabilität), ihres Entstehungskontextes sowie ihrer Fähigkeit, Wissenschaft vor dem Hintergrund der disziplinären Spezifika zweckgemäß zu bewerten, eine entscheidende Rolle.

*Metrics in Transition - Invitation to the final workshop of the *metrics final project workshop on March 27 & 28,  2019 in Göttingen


The *metrics project  invites you and everyone interested in *metrics to its final workshop which will take place in the Historical Building of Göttingen State and University Library.


On March 27 & 28, 2019 the project team will present the results of 2 years work and would like to discuss the topic further with the community. Moreover the actual research in this field will be presented and cooperation networks for sustainability and further development of the services should be initiated.


We are happy to present our two keynote speakers:


Joe Wass und Catriona MacCallum.


Joe Wass is Principal R&D Engineer and works in Crossref Labs, cooking up new products and services and finding new things to do with Crossref's data. He is technical lead on the Event Data project, a system for collecting and distributing events, assertions and links that occur around scholarly publications. This data is collected from a number of destinations across the web, and can be put to a wide range of uses, including *metrics.


Catriona McCallum is Director of Open Science at Hindawi. She worked i.a. as editor for PLOS and is currently Chair of the OASPA Policy Committee and a member of the Advisory Boards of OpenAire and the Royal Society (Publishing).

Poster Call

We invite workshop participants to submit a poster on the topic *metrics. Contents could be:


·        How do altmetrics work? How does my library/institution implement them in their service?

·        How do altmetrics supplement traditional metrics?

·        How can we create a responsible practice with metrics?


Please submit your poster abstract (max. 200 words) until March 1, 2019 via the registration form.


About the project

The main objective of this project is to develop a deeper understanding of *metrics, especially in terms of their general significance and their perception amongst stakeholders. To this end, key considerations will include the quality of *metrics underlying data (in terms of validity and reliability), the historical context within which *metrics arose, as well as their ability to adequately assess scientific outputs against the background of disciplinary specificities.
